Mobile, Alabama (December 7, 2018)– A wrong way driver in an SUV had a head-on collision with an 18 wheeler in the early hours of the morning.
The crash occurred on Interstate 10 heading eastbound. The accident scene backed up traffic all the way between Grand Bay and Theodore Dawes Road. Officials encouraged commuters to find another way to work.
Authorities arrived at the scene sometimes around 3 am Friday. Originally, they reported that the driver of the SUV died at the scene, near exit 13. However, Alabama State Troopers now say that the driver did not die there at the crash, but rather, was in critical condition at the hospital.
By 8:15 am, all lanes of traffic were again open.
